Independent Case Manager
A life long social worker, with decades spent serving the needs of challenging populations, my focus is giving mentally ill adults and their families the patient and compassionate support necessary to keeping all of their lives moving forward.
This includes taking my clients to medical and psychiatric appointments, ensuring they are taking their medications properly, coordinating with family and professional support systems, giving emotional support, and handling crises.
In essence, I take care of the needs that allow my clients to live independently, build self-confidence, and maximize stability.
Mark first came to visit my son in Harborview Hospital psychiatric ward. My son was quite ill, but beginning to recover at the time and Mark was able to connect with him from the start. My son views Mark as a friend and mentor who is always willing to listen to him, and my husband and I view Mark as support for the entire family. Mark has gone above and beyond the call of duty by meeting with my son on weekends and is willing to come to our island home for visits. In his work with my son, Mark provides regular counsel and feedback to him as he navigates his young adult life and learns to manage his illness.
Mark Weinstein’s calm and level approach in dealing with complex personal situations with our son has been a great help in dealing with his mental condition. Mark is very direct and intuitive in his assessment of the family dynamics that are so critical in resolving the conflicts that can arise with mental illness. His calm demeanor inspires trust in his clients. He has also been very proactive in his suggestions for future strategy in dealing with challenges that may arise. We highly recommend Mark. You will find him to be 100% committed in all that he does.
Mark has been a strong, compassionate advocate for me and my son. His support stems not from his wage, but from what I’ve come to believe is his essential life’s work: offering a safe hand to those who need one. I’ve never met anyone as committed to that basic need.
Mark serves as a strong advocate for my adult brother who has both physical disabilities and mental health issues. I especially rely on Mark as my eyes and ears since I live hundreds of miles away. Mark’s case management skills, compassion for and professional friendship with my brother have helped my brother to retain as much independence as possible. I rely on Mark to accompany my brother to medical appointments and to help both my brother and me understand changing needs and conditions. Mark has built a relationship of trust and respect with my brother, but he also realistically assesses situations and promotes useful alternatives for dealing with mental health issues, family dynamics, and independence issues.
